THIS IS AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM
• Usually comprised of 5 modules: General Ledger, Sales/Receivables, Purchases/Payables, Payroll, Payments. Each module is tailored to the company's needs. For instance a CRM can be built around the Sales module; likewise a VRM can be build around the Purchases module and so on. It can even be turned into a mini ERP from CRM to invoicing to receipt of payment depending on the company's needs. A Deposits module can be added if needed. For example companies that receive all their payments via direct deposits/transfers don't need one.
• Networkable up to 7 users
• Each module can be restricted to certain employees or wide open to everybody/anybody depending on your requirements.
• Can attach files (quotes, letters, photos, diagrams, pdf, etc.) to a transaction (like Invoice, Purchase, Payment, etc...). If for example you received a quote by email from a supplier and want to attach it to your PO615, it's done in 2 clicks. Same thing on the Sales side.
• Can email as attachment invoices, quotes, statements. memos, etc... to your customers/vendors/anybody whose name is in the system.
• Extracting information from the system/Reporting: can be done on screen only or printed or emailed or both. In short: the reporting beats any canned accounting package, especially on the operations side.
• Querying the system: You can query the system and sort your transactions the way you need: by Customer and/or Date and/or Amount and/or Product and/or Invoice#, etc..... Any off the shelf package has a limited number of simplistic queries. You use them or not they will be there, staring at you all the time. With my system, the ones you don't need won't be there and the ones you need will be there.
• Absolutely no need to close a year to start a new one. Once audited/reviewed, all previous years transactions will be frozen. You can recall them, view them, query them, print them any time, but can't delete, can't modify.
• Modifications of current transactions: made to suit your way of operating and the ability will be in any hands you want.
• You can insert/modify/delete any note/explanation/comment for internal use to an Invoice or Customer or any transaction. Same deal with Purchases, Payments, Payroll, Deposits.
• You can have a Quote module or not depending on the nature your business. Same on the Purchases side (PO system or not)

This is not a one legged off the shelf accounting software.
The accounting part might probably represent 1/2 or even 1/3rd of the whole thing depending on the complexity of your business processes.
